IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some people think it's better to choose friends who always have the same opinions as them. Other people believe it's good to have friends who sometimes disagree with them.
Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Friends are the only ones who stay with a person for most of their life. Some argue that choosing friends having same opinions are better, while others believe that friends who disagree sometimes are good. I strongly believe that friends with their true opinion with conflict of thought sometimes are better.
A good friend will always give a right advice in any situation, although we disagree about it. A person with different opinion sometimes shows the different view in a situation. Most of the time, the person with pure intensions tends to disagree more to keep their point instead of faking to be a good person in room. My best friend fights with me many times when he does not think that I am on the right way, and I personally experienced at the end that he was correct.
However, there are people who have same opinions every time. People with the same opinions and thought process get along easily and become good friends. This helps in work done easily. But, when the intensions of a friend who agrees in every thing are bad, it is very harmful. I know a person in my family, who got caught by the police because he had a businessman friend who agreed to every wrong thing to get his money.
To conclude, friends with same opinions can get their work done quickly compare to one with different beliefs. I strongly believes that friends who disagree sometimes are better to realize the truth and showing a different point of view in a situation.
