Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response makes an attempt to discuss the topic of friendship, particularly focusing on personal experience with the writer's father rather than fully addressing the prompt's requirement to discuss both views regarding similar versus differing opinions. The prompt asks to discuss both views and give an own opinion, but the discussion of similar or different opinions is extremely tangential and confused. The writer mentions that some people think it is better to choose friends with the same opinions, but this idea is not properly developed or supported. Instead, a large portion of the text deviates into personal anecdotes about the writer's father acting as their first friend. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed, and the position remains unclear throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a clear logical organisation and progression. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal structure of paragraphs is weak, with abrupt shifts in topic from social media and technology to fashion, and then to the writer's father. Cohesive devices are either missing, inadequate, or inaccurate, making it difficult for the reader to follow the train of thought. For example, sentences like 'As per my thinking, first friend is my father' and 'I am happy both side' fail to establish proper logical relationships between ideas. Referencing is frequently unclear, and the overall progression breaks down multiple times throughout the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The lexical resource is limited and basic. The student uses repetitive vocabulary such as 'friend', 'technology', and 'good'. There are numerous word choice and collocation errors, such as 'good time for the social-media', 'feshionable, rich and dashy', and 'bed situation'. Less common vocabulary is attempted with significant inaccuracy, and spelling errors occur (e.g., 'whatsup', 'Snapchats', 'habbits', 'guidenece'). These lexical limitations and errors frequently strain the reader and obscure the intended meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is very limited, relying primarily on simple sentence structures that are frequently marred by basic errors. Attempts at complex sentences are heavily flawed, resulting in ungrammatical constructions such as 'Sometimes a best idea for the use of technology is great approach' and 'He is help me in every time for the financial and education wise.' Errors in verb tenses, prepositions, articles, and sentence boundaries are constant throughout the response and frequently impede communication, causing considerable difficulty for the reader.
