Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is believed that friends with common perspective everytime are better. However, I firmly believe that a mate, who disagrees whenever we are incorrect, are the best ones to keep.
People often think that who agrees with them each time, even if they are wrong are the better ones. It cannot be true at all. It is because if you are a friend, you would support in every good deeds. However, if they are doing something awful, a true friend would try to warn about the bad effects and prevent from any consequences. A friend who agrees with you while you are performing illegal activities are worse than an enemy. It clearly illustrates that they do not care about you at all. They are there just for the entertainment purpose, not to support you.
On the other hand, the individual who disagrees with you when you are up to something bad are the real ones. They care about you. They do not want to see you in trouble becase of the activity that are done in rush or in rage. A good friend always want you to advance in your life, s/he will support whenever you are in a right path. Although if we are taking a wrong path , they will definitely block and try to guide to the correct way forward in the life.
In conclusion, there are some friends who would always agree even in the wrong deeds. While some friends are there who warns you when you are wrong, they are the ones who are worth keeping.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both views—having friends with similar opinions versus having friends who disagree—and clearly states a personal position in favour of disagreement to prevent wrongdoing. The main ideas are relevant and generally supported with explanations, such as the danger of friends who support illegal activities. However, the development tends to be somewhat repetitive, focusing heavily on the single scenario of a friend stopping illegal or bad actions rather than exploring a broader range of social or intellectual differences in opinion. While a clear position is maintained throughout, the ideas could have been extended further to reach a higher band. Overall, all parts of the task are addressed, earning a solid Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing both sides and the opinion, and a concluding paragraph. Paragraphing is utilised to separate distinct concepts. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or faulty. For instance, the transition in the second body paragraph relies on 'On the other hand, the individual who disagrees with you...', which is slightly awkward. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun shift in 'if you are a friend, you would support in every good deeds'. Cohesive devices are present but can be repetitive or slightly unnatural, placing this response comfortably at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with attempts at less common lexical items such as 'perspective', 'illegal activities', and 'entertainment purpose'. However, there are noticeable limitations and inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'common perspective everytime' instead of 'the same perspective at all times', and 'support in every good deeds' instead of 'support you in every good deed'. Spelling is generally acceptable, but phrasing can feel unnatural or basic in places, such as 'mate' used alongside formal transitions. These lexical limitations and minor errors restrict the score to a Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional structures ('if you are a friend, you would support...') and relative clauses ('a mate, who disagrees... are the best ones'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('a mate... are the best ones', 'the individual... are the real ones', 'activity that are done') and prepositional use ('support in every good deeds'). Additionally, there are punctuation and phrasing slips, such as 'becase' (spelling error) and comma splices. While these errors do not completely impede communication, their frequency prevents the writing from achieving a Band 6.0, resulting in a Band 5.5.
