Student answer (Band 5.0)

In today's rapid developing world, having friends always give certain kinds of benefits to individual's lives. There has been an ongiong debate regarding selection of friends. Many people believes that they have the same belief as their friend have, while others believe that friends should be oppose to their friend's judgement. This essay will explore both the perspective eith an appropriate examples prior to my opinion.

For those people thinks that it is better to find collegues who everytime have the similar thoughts as like them, it significantly leads to create some better idea in terms of innovations, and make some greater view that could not see by the others. This is mainly because of, each and every person are not perfect in perticular situation, sometimes other people may suggest better way to succeed. For instance, most of the business lead by the people who have different kind of opinions. Consequently, they got better success into their business and earn lots of money.

On the other hand, other thinks that it is beneficial to have a friends who sometimes oppose with them, but it largely break their relationship with each other. It might be possible to create some conflict in the friendship. For instance, some people may break their bonding due to small misunderstanding and misconceptions. As a result, they stay sway from each other. So, it is very unusual for them.

Form my perspective, friend should be choose based on an individuals chioce, and mainly they can sustain their relationship with each other for a long period. So, it would be beneficial to have friends who have similar thinking habit as like their friends.

In conclusion, although it is very tough to sustain the friendship for a long time with people who have same type of thinking pattern, but eventually it build some positive bonds between them. Therefore, I beileve that everyone should have friends who have same types of skills with agreeing nature.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task partially, attempting to discuss both views regarding friendships and provide an opinion, but the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the prompt asks to discuss both views—those who prefer similar opinions and those who value disagreement—yet the student's body paragraphs struggle to clearly separate these perspectives. The second paragraph begins by mentioning people who think it is better to find colleagues with similar thoughts, but the supporting argument seems to confuse this by stating 'most of the business lead by the people who have different kind of opinions.' Furthermore, the position is not always clear throughout the essay, as the conclusion contradicts some earlier points by stating a preference for friends who have 'same types of skills with agreeing nature.' To move to a higher band, the writer needs to present a fully developed position with well-supported ideas that clearly address every part of the prompt without contradiction.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays some organization with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, which hinders the logical flow between sentences and paragraphs. For example, transitional phrases like 'For those people thinks' and 'On the other hand, other thinks' are awkwardly constructed and fail to signal the relationships between ideas smoothly. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal logical progression within the paragraphs is weak, often leaving the reader confused about how one idea leads to the next. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as the ambiguous use of pronouns like 'they' and 'them' throughout the text. To achieve a higher score, the writer must implement a clear logical progression throughout the response and use cohesive devices more accurately and naturally.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey basic meaning, though noticeable errors cause some difficulty for the reader. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'innovations', 'misconceptions', and 'perspective', but struggles with accurate word choice, word form, and collocations. There are frequent lexical inaccuracies throughout the text, including phrases like 'rapid developing world' instead of rapidly developing, 'ongiong debate' instead of ongoing, 'stay sway' instead of stay away, and 'chioce' instead of choice. Additionally, spelling errors such as 'beileve' and 'perticular' detract from the quality of the writing. To improve, the writer needs to expand their vocabulary range, pay closer attention to word forms and collocations, and carefully check their spelling to ensure communication is smooth and precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside attempts at complex forms that are frequently faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors that can cause difficulty for the reader, involving verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and articles. Examples include 'Many people believes that they have the same belief as their friend have', where the singular verb 'believes' incorrectly matches the plural subject, and 'friend should be choose', which misuses the passive voice. Punctuation and preposition usage within grammatical patterns also show frequent inaccuracies, such as missing articles in 'with an appropriate examples'. To move up to the next band, the writer must increase the variety of error-free complex sentence structures and exercise much better control over basic grammatical rules, particularly verb agreement and voice.
