Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is often argued that it is great to have friends who always have the same thinking process as you, whereas others believe that there should be a critisism in life by friends who have opposite opinion than you. This essay will explain both perspectives before explaining why I believe balanced view from friends is a blessing, they which will make them successful.
Supporters of friends with same ideas and opinions argue that they can understand their state of mind. The main reason behind this phenomenon is understanding, emotions, idea and mental situation, which will be easily transferrable. This will not only give them an platform to learn about their pain and problems, but also bring faster and logical solutions. For example, a person who lost his job is suffering from mental and financial trauma, a closed friend will support him by motivating him to apply for other jobs, supports with the hiring process, and uplift his confidence with empathy. Additionally, he would also aid financial needs meanwhile.
On the other side, those who support friends who sometimes disagree with your opinion have the courage. This group of people do not say to make you feel good. They actually want you to grow and develop yourself in every situation financially, mentally, and physically. A strong stand can give you a second thoughts on your decisions. Critisism is as important as the support in life. It does not only creates an angle of unknown view but also provides an opportunity to explore the closed pages of the life. For example, A friend of mine was thinking he could pass the NEET test, he was overconfident due to his past test results. However, initally when he started the course he was unsure due to his low mathematical ability. His dream turned into reality due to critisism by friends saying he can never do it. He took this as a challange and he cleared the test with highest score in district.
In conclusion, Both views have different merits of understanding stat of mind, providing logical solutions, and enables exploration of opportunities. Although I believe having friends who have same opinions and suggestions of yours and also opposite views based on situation is the blessing.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on friendship and providing a clear personal position in the introduction and conclusion. The ideas presented are generally relevant and supported with examples, such as the NEET test anecdote in the third paragraph. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the second and third paragraphs attempt to extend arguments about supportive and critical friends, certain points remain slightly under-developed or repetitive, such as the broad assertions about emotional states and mental situations in the second paragraph. The overall progression of the argument is clear, yet a stronger depth of analysis in supporting examples would be required to reach a higher level of task response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear structure that includes an introduction, two body paragraphs exploring opposing viewpoints, and a concluding paragraph. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate each main idea. Cohesive devices are employed to guide the reader through the text, using markers such as 'Supporters of friends', 'On the other side', and 'In conclusion'. Nevertheless, referencing and cohesion occasionally feel somewhat mechanical or slightly faulty, as seen in minor phrasing awkwardness in transition sentences like 'they which will make them successful' or 'those who support friends who sometimes disagree with your opinion have the courage'. Overall, the logical organization is clearly visible throughout the writing.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used provides an adequate range for the completion of the task, allowing the student to articulate general concepts effectively. There are attempts to incorporate less common items and subject-specific vocabulary, such as 'perspective', 'phenomenon', 'empathy', and 'overconfident'. However, the response contains noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form that reflect a limited level of precision. Examples include spelling errors like 'critisism' and 'initally', as well as awkward lexical collocations such as 'balanced view from friends is a blessing' and 'stat of mind'. These inaccuracies do not severely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score due to inconsistent control over less common vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting various structures throughout the essay. There are several successful complex constructions, but they are accompanied by recurring grammatical errors in areas such as article usage, prepositions, verb forms, and relative clauses. Examples of these errors include 'opposite opinion than you', 'give them an platform', 'aid financial needs meanwhile', and 'Both views have different merits of understanding stat of mind... and enables exploration'. Punctuation and agreement errors also appear across the text. These errors occur frequently enough to cause occasional difficulty or distraction for the reader, though they rarely obscure the overall meaning of the sentences.
