Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement, containing only 129 words compared to the required 250 words. Because the text breaks off mid-sentence, the discussion of both views is incomplete, and the student's own opinion is not fully articulated or supported. The ideas presented in the introduction are very limited and under-developed, resulting in a minimal response to the prompt. To reach a higher band, you must write a complete essay of at least 250 words that thoroughly addresses both parts of the prompt and clearly develops a well-supported position throughout all paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

The response lacks overall progression and proper paragraphing, as the text essentially consists of a single run-on block that breaks off abruptly. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, such as the awkward transitions between clauses like 'although it is undeniable' and 'on one hand i can say'. Referencing is unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of arguments. To improve, you need to organise your writing into distinct paragraphs—an introduction, body paragraphs for each view, and a conclusion—using appropriate and logical cohesive devices to link your ideas smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, such as 'morden' instead of 'modern', 'select' instead of 'selecting', and awkward phrasing like 'create a conflicts'. While the writer attempts some topic-related vocabulary such as 'differing opinion' and 'perspective', these errors and the lack of a wider, more precise lexical range restrict the score. To improve, focus on expanding your vocabulary with accurate collocations and check your spelling carefully before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical structures are very limited, and the text suffers from frequent errors that cause difficulty for the reader, ultimately culminating in an incomplete final sentence. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'friends who has', missing articles, and heavy punctuation errors like the lack of capitalisation at the beginning of sentences. To move to a higher band, you need to demonstrate a greater variety of sentence structures with control over grammatical rules, avoiding frequent basic errors and ensuring every sentence is fully completed.
