Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this era, having wonderful friends is crucial part in our life as everyone know that having a good friend makes life more easier. Some people prefer friends who have same mindset as them, while other argue that having friends with different opinions is more beneficial. In my opinion, I believe that having disagreement on some topic with friends is way more than better who have same opinions I will discuss both points in upcoming paragraphs

On the one hand, firstly, it is easier to understand each other without any conflicts, since they spend a-lot time with each other so they could do any activities and share similar interest too.

For example, if both of them love sports and movies then they could spend time comfortably. Furthermore, these friends know their hard time so they could understand each others feeling without talk with each other. Therefore, having same mindset friend makes life easier and more comfortable.

On the other hand, the and foremost reson having different opinions friends is that they both think out of the box and they do not hesitate to talk about their mindset toward the idea they both are thinking. For instance, one person saying honda civic cars is best as it has more average, while other is saying rubicon is best car . Utimately, it shows that they both have different mindset toward every points. Secondly, respectful disagreement could improve communication skills and teach them how to accept other opinion. Thus , this could help them more confident and open minded.

To conclude, although having same opinion friend make comfortable and understable bond. However, I believe that friendships with different opinions have more strong bond as they learn from each others ideas and tell them about their mistake without any hesitation. The crucial things is they could learn how to respect each others ideas and maintain respect between them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both views and state a clear preference for friendships that include disagreement. The first body paragraph explains the comfort and shared activities that can come from similar opinions, while the second gives reasons why differing views may encourage open-mindedness and better communication. These points are relevant, and the car example illustrates disagreement, though it is not fully connected to how friends learn from one another. Some ideas are less developed than others: for example, the claim that friends with similar views understand each other’s difficult moments could use explanation or a specific example. Your conclusion restates your position, but the essay would be stronger with more precise support and a clearer explanation of how respectful disagreement strengthens friendship.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. This makes the discussion easy to follow in broad terms, and signposts such as “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help distinguish the arguments. However, some linking is mechanical or inaccurate, including “firstly” after “On the one hand” and “Thus” where the relationship between ideas is not fully clear. The opening sentence of the second body paragraph is difficult to follow, and the car example does not connect smoothly to the point about thinking differently. Improve progression by giving each paragraph a clear topic sentence, then explaining and illustrating that point before moving on.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “mindset,” “respectful disagreement,” “communication skills,” and “open minded.” These phrases show an attempt to express more than basic opinions. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which makes some sentences awkward: “way more than better,” “same mindset friend,” and “more strong bond” do not express the intended meaning naturally. There are also spelling errors such as “reson,” “Utimately,” and “understable.” Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling carefully. More precise expressions for shared interests, mutual understanding, and constructive disagreement would make the argument clearer and more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, using clauses with “since,” “while,” and “although,” as well as examples introduced by “if.” This gives the response some structural variety. However, errors in sentence formation, agreement, articles, and punctuation occur often enough to make parts of the essay difficult to read. For example, “having wonderful friends is crucial part” needs an article, and “other argue” does not agree with its subject. The opening paragraph also runs several ideas together without clear sentence boundaries, while “one person saying” lacks a complete verb structure. Practise building accurate sentences first, then combine them with subordinate clauses; careful proofreading for agreement, articles, and full stops will improve control.
