Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You give an opinion that both kinds of friendship can be beneficial, and you include examples about friends helping with study and wedding preparations. However, the response only minimally addresses the central contrast: it does not clearly explain why someone might prefer friends who share their opinions, and the discussion of friends who disagree is replaced by a point about having “knowledgeable friends.” The example about wedding work is also difficult to connect to agreement or disagreement, while the reference to TV actors is unclear and unsupported. To strengthen the response, explain each view directly, show how disagreement can broaden understanding or challenge assumptions, and develop your own position with a relevant example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has an introduction, separate body paragraphs and a conclusion, so there is an attempt to organise the discussion. Some linking expressions, including “For example,” “As a result,” and “To put it another way,” show an effort to connect ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the first body paragraph shifts from study help to wedding preparations, and the next moves to knowledgeable friends and TV actors without a clear link to the question. The headings “outline sentences” and “Thises” also interrupt the essay structure. Use topic sentences that identify each view, keep each paragraph focused on one main idea, and make references and transitions explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant vocabulary, such as “opinions,” “knowledgeable,” “ideas,” and “skills,” and attempt phrases like “personal responsibilities” and “wedding ceremony.” This shows an effort to discuss friendship and support, but much of the vocabulary is basic or repeated, particularly “help,” “friends,” and “work.” Several word choices or collocations make meaning unclear, for example “extra knowledgeable friends,” “before insulting our friends,” and “they are not handle it.” Spelling and word-form errors, including “Thises” and “frome,” also reduce precision. Build a more varied set of expressions for the two views, such as “share similar values,” “challenge my assumptions,” and “offer a different perspective,” and check that each phrase fits its context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, using connectors such as “Although,” “Furthermore,” and “As a result.” However, errors in sentence structure and verb forms are frequent and sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to understand. For example, “they helps each others friends” has problems with agreement and sentence construction, while “we are came at my home” uses an incorrect verb form. Articles, plurals and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “In wedding ceremony people home a lot of works” and the run-on construction “This essay will discuss both views .In my opinion…”. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. Proofread for agreement, tense, articles and sentence boundaries.
