Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, many people have so many friends which are helpful and some people think it's good to make friends which are same as you and even they give ideas if you ask something from them while others argue that to have friends who gives opposite opinion is better. noe in this eassy i will discuss both views with examples

On the one hand, numerous people say making friends is good thing in life because friends are useful and helpful while diffcult time and we can spend a good times with them. If we ask a question with friends who have the mindset like us is exceptional because on that time we got a plus point on our idea we believe that with this matter we have our friends. For example while reading in school and preparing the exam we thinks that the last two chapters are important for exam and if we ask to our close freinds who said the same in this technique we can do well prepare because our thoughts are same

On the other hand, many individuals believe that have a friend a blessing in life we have to try to make more and more friends in our lives because we can do alot of achievements in our lives and if we ask the question about something from our friends and they say quite opposite on that time we think why he disagree with our statement after some times we relise that maybe we are wrong on this thing because we didnot experiance that thing before on that we should listen that friend who are not agree with us. For instance if i ask a friend about indoor salesman job in pakistan i admits this job is better for me and my close friend disagree with me is useful for me because he knows better about that job and i m new he can give me best advice about the jobs

In my view, having opposite mind set friend is great for us in our lives in so many decesion we ask to him we can give his best ideas and in this way we can get best solution and by barganing on ideas we can reach the best statement

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both views and give a clear personal preference in the final paragraph: you believe friends who disagree can offer better ideas and solutions. The examples about preparing for exams and considering a job make the discussion relevant, and the second example helps explain why disagreement can be useful. However, the two sides are not developed equally: the first example mainly shows agreement as reassuring, rather than explaining when shared opinions are especially valuable. Some points, such as friends helping with “achievements,” remain general, and the conclusion repeats your view without fully drawing together the discussion. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation of its benefits and limits to make the response more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a coherent overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a final paragraph stating your opinion. Signposts such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In my view” help readers follow the main stages. Within paragraphs, however, several ideas are joined into long sentences, so the relationship between them is sometimes unclear. For example, the second body paragraph moves from making more friends to questioning disagreement and then to the job example without clear steps. Some linking phrases, including “on that time” and “on that,” are repeated or imprecise. Use shorter sentences and clearer references to connect each reason to its example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss friendship and advice, including “opposite opinion,” “mindset,” “disagree,” and “solution.” The examples also show an attempt to express specific situations rather than relying only on general statements. However, the range is limited and several phrases are unnatural or imprecise, such as “do well prepare,” “a good times,” and “barganing on ideas.” Spelling errors such as “diffcult,” “experiance,” and “decesion” also reduce accuracy. Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling carefully; this will make your meaning clearer and help you express distinctions between agreement, support, and constructive disagreement.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if we ask a friend” and clauses explaining why someone may disagree. This gives the response some variety, and the main message is generally understandable. However, errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and verb forms occur across the response. For example, “friends who gives” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “we thinks” and “we got a plus point” do not use forms consistently. Some sentences run together, particularly in the second body paragraph, making the grammar harder to follow. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea and check agreement and tense before adding extra clauses.
