Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You give some relevant feedback about learning cooking, including that the teacher explained things well and that cooking seemed difficult at first. However, the letter does not address two key points: you do not say how much you have cooked since the course, and you do not suggest another course for the school to offer. The comments about cooking being important for everyone are general rather than specific feedback on your experience. The response is also 31 words below the required minimum, which leaves little room to develop the requested points. To improve, cover all three bullet points directly, add specific examples, and use an appropriate closing to complete the letter.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic sequence from describing what you learned to giving your opinion, and connectors such as “Moreover,” “after that,” and “According to me” show an attempt to link ideas. However, the response is presented as one long paragraph, so the different purposes of the letter are not clearly separated. Some links are difficult to follow, particularly the shift from the course experience to advice for students going abroad. The opening and closing are also very brief, and the letter does not have a clear final request or sign-off. Organise the response into short paragraphs—course feedback, cooking since the course, and a suggested future course—and use clear links between them.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “ingredients,” “low flame,” and “medium flame,” and phrases such as “put a lot of effort” help communicate your experience. However, the range is limited, and several spelling or word-choice errors make parts less clear, such as “cuiznes,” “beging,” and “finger licking.” “Three types of cooking” is also imprecise when you appear to mean heat levels. Aim for accurate, natural expressions that describe the course and your cooking progress, such as “cooking techniques,” “seasonings,” or “prepared meals.” Proofread spelling carefully, and choose vocabulary that directly supports the requested feedback rather than relying on broad statements.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to combine ideas in longer sentences, for example, “In the beginning of cooking I think it was difficult for me after that I put a lot of efforts,” and the main meaning is generally recoverable. However, sentence boundaries and punctuation are often missing, making the longer sentences difficult to read. There are also errors in sentence structure and grammatical forms, as in “now can I make anything” and “who students go to abroad.” Capitalisation is inconsistent, including the opening “dear sir.” Use full stops to separate ideas, check word order in questions and statements, and practise accurate clauses such as “Since the course, I have cooked…” These changes would make your message clearer.
