Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I hope this letters finds you well. First of all, I would love to thank the experience which I grab during the course. It was amazing.
This is the best skill that I unlocked while staying home, I am making the different type of recipe, my family is giving appreciation after having it.
Which is encouraging me to do more. Those who are keenly interested in the cooking I would like to suggest them to enroll in the course and take classes to enhance their skill in this field.
To put a review, I enjoyed it a lot and try to becoming a five-star chef. I am very confident after doing this. Truly appreciated.
Thank
warm regards

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the development of the ideas. While you have addressed the three bullet points—describing what you enjoyed, mentioning your cooking frequency, and suggesting a new course—the ideas are underdeveloped. For instance, you mention you enjoyed the course but do not provide specific details about what made it enjoyable. Similarly, the suggestion for a new course is missing entirely, as you only suggest that others should enroll in the current course. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples and ensure all parts of the prompt are fully addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is divided into short, somewhat disjointed paragraphs. While there is a basic attempt at logical progression, the transitions between ideas are weak. For example, the jump from discussing your family's appreciation to suggesting others enroll in the course feels abrupt. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical, such as 'First of all' and 'To put a review'. To achieve a higher score, you should use a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea that flows naturally into the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. You rely on simple phrases like 'amazing' and 'best skill'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'thank the experience which I grab' (should be 'thank you for the experience I gained') and 'making the different type of recipe' (should be 'preparing various types of dishes'). To improve, focus on using more precise verbs and adjectives, and pay attention to common collocations in English.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally hinder clarity. Examples include 'I hope this letters finds you well' (subject-verb agreement), 'thank the experience which I grab' (incorrect verb choice), and 'try to becoming' (incorrect verb form). You primarily use simple sentence structures, and there is a lack of complex grammatical forms. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and verb tense consistency. Additionally, try to incorporate a variety of complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or conditional sentences, while ensuring they are grammatically accurate.
