Student answer (Band 7.0)

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter to draw attention to the experience you have attained and give feedback regarding it.

As you already aware that I enrolled in the short cookery course recently. Well, the things which seem amazing for me was the effective way of elaborating content to the learners. Apart from it, the classroom was equipped with all kitchen equipments, which, however, lead to professionalism. Hence, I believe that the encouragement of learning culinary skills is paramount in your class.

Apart from it, when I joined the course, I was hardly able to comprehend the cooking stuffs. It, surprisingly, challenging for me at first. But your in-depth knowledge and technicality has made it possible to make my meals by myself. Eventually, I will definitely recommend to launch course on continental dishes as the demands of mexican and others have arise due to globalization.

I will look forward for your quick response.

Yours faithfully

Anjali.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: describing what you enjoyed, mentioning your cooking practice since the course, and suggesting a new course. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention enjoying the 'effective way of elaborating content', more specific examples of what you cooked or learned would have strengthened the response. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though the opening sentence is slightly confusing regarding the 'experience you have attained'. Overall, you have fulfilled the requirements of the prompt effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the task. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Apart from it', 'Hence', and 'Eventually' to link your ideas. However, some of these transitions are used slightly unnaturally or repetitively. For example, starting two consecutive paragraphs with 'Apart from it' makes the flow feel a bit mechanical. The progression of ideas is clear, but the use of cohesive devices could be more varied and sophisticated to achieve a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'culinary skills', 'comprehend', and 'globalization'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'cooking stuffs' (which is informal and imprecise) and 'launch course' (which should be 'launch a course'). Additionally, 'equipments' is an uncountable noun and should be 'equipment'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over collocations and word forms to reach the next level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'As you already aware' (missing 'are'), 'It, surprisingly, challenging' (missing 'was'), and 'demands... have arise' (should be 'have arisen'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward comma placements. While you show an ability to construct complex sentences, the frequency of these minor errors prevents the writing from being considered highly accurate. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and verb tense consistency will help improve your score.
