Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Sir,
I am om Patel a formal student of 'Baking With Fun' course, writing this letter to offer feedback for the course.
The course was great it taught me numerous new dishes which has helped me a lot in my cooking competition.
The best thing about the course was the interactive inputs of the teacher turning boring classes into very enjoyable and informative.
After completing the course I have participated in a local cooking competition and secured first price thanks to the skills taught in the course. Apart from this I have made many platers for my family and friends on various occasion.
One thing that I still struggle with is the dessert and would like the school to offer a course related to dessert so I could master it and improve my overall cooking skill.
If you decide to offer a requested cooking course please mail me on [redacted email]. Waiting for your response.
Yours Faithfully
Om Patel

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task: describing what you enjoyed, mentioning your cooking practice since the course, and suggesting a new course. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat brief. For example, while you mention the teacher's interactive input, expanding slightly on a specific technique or lesson would have provided a more comprehensive response. The letter covers all requirements well, but could benefit from slightly more detail to fully satisfy the 'well-developed' criteria for higher bands.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter follows a logical structure with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific point from the prompt, which helps the reader follow your ideas easily. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Apart from this' and 'If you decide', which are effective. To improve, you could incorporate a wider variety of linking words or transition phrases to connect your sentences more fluidly, as some transitions currently feel a bit mechanical or abrupt.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You use a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly, such as 'interactive inputs', 'secured', and 'master'. There are a few minor errors, such as 'platers' (platters) and 'price' (prize). While the vocabulary is adequate for the task, it is somewhat functional. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise collocations and less common lexical items related to the topic of cooking and education, which would demonstrate a more sophisticated control of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'I am om Patel a formal student' (should be 'former') and 'the dessert' (should be 'desserts' or 'dessert-making'). Punctuation is generally functional, though some sentences lack necessary commas for clarity. The errors present do not impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent pluralization will help improve your accuracy.
