Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
Providing a review on request for the cookery course.
I recently completed my course from your school and, my experience was really amazing throughout the course. I enjoyed this a lot because, we get free food everyday which was prepared by all the students during class. Moreover, the teachers has magic in their hands. I made more than 100 dishes during this course and then start preparing my breakfast by my own.
I love my course and get to much knowledge about cooking. I suggest you should introduce bakery course in this school with some extra charges. As I know two or three people who would like to join this course because, they want to open their bakery shops in future. Overall my experience was great with this school and I would definetly suggest people to join your school.
Hope you like my feedback. Thank you
Yours faithfully
Rohit

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task: describing what you enjoyed, mentioning your cooking frequency since the course, and suggesting a new course. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a course director. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention enjoying the free food and the teachers' skills, these points could be expanded with more specific detail to better meet the requirements of a Band 7 or higher. The letter is clear and the purpose is well-defined, but the overall depth of the response is basic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Overall' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing and punctuation errors, such as the comma usage in 'because, we get'. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is a bit abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that your sentences flow more naturally into one another without relying on mechanical structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'completed', 'experience', and 'introduce'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'get to much knowledge' (should be 'gained a lot of knowledge') and 'magic in their hands' (which is a bit informal for this context). There are also minor spelling errors like 'definetly'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise, academic, or professional vocabulary and ensure correct spelling throughout your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
Your writing shows a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of your message. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the teachers has'), tense inconsistency ('start preparing' instead of 'started preparing'), and incorrect preposition usage ('course from your school'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. You should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring consistent verb tenses throughout your paragraphs.
