Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir,

I hope this letter finds you well, As you may know i was participant in the cookery course before a week and the administration of the classes asked me for my feedback and i will be happy to submit my feedback.

First of all , i would like to mention that that course was one of the best the i have ever experienced in my life and the mentor he was excellent towards his work on the to of that with the help of this subject i have tried so many different cuisines and when i started this course i used to hate cooking but now cooking in one of my favourite therapy.

However, after finishing this course i have tried so many different dishes to cook and i succeed each one of them with best taste , besides that all of my family members are happy that finally i learn to cook.

I would like to suggest school that they should also have to offer another cookery show that will be very helpful for the people.

Yours Sincerely,

Rob

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task. You described your enjoyment of the course, mentioned your cooking practice since completion, and suggested a new course. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, your suggestion for a new course is vague; you mention a 'cookery show' rather than a specific type of cooking class (e.g., Italian pasta making or vegan baking). To reach a higher band, ensure your ideas are more specific and fully extended. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though the opening and closing salutations could be more consistent.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For example, 'on the to of that' is a misuse of a linking phrase, and the transition between sentences is sometimes abrupt. The punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement and the use of lowercase 'i' throughout the text. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in addition') would significantly improve the flow and logical progression of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic. You rely on simple descriptors like 'excellent' and 'happy'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'succeed each one of them' (should be 'succeeded in cooking each one') and 'cooking in one of my favourite therapy' (should be 'cooking is one of my favourite therapies'). To improve, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to cooking and personal development. The frequent spelling errors and the failure to capitalize the pronoun 'I' also detract from the overall quality of your lexical presentation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the mentor he was excellent'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'i learn to cook' instead of 'I have learned to cook'), and missing articles. Punctuation is also a significant area for improvement, as many sentences are run-on or lack proper terminal punctuation. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of basic grammatical slips prevents a higher score. Focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tenses.
