Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear sir or madam,
I wanted to provide my feedback on the cookery course at school.
I was enrolled in July 12 batch of the course. I really learned a lot about how to properly prepare ingredients and proper ways to cook them together. The intractive parts kept me engaged, as I got to cook with my wife during them. Since, this me and my wife had used the methords, we learned in our day to day life almost everyday. We had also been cooking together a lot which helped us get even closer.
However, The lack of additional cooking courses had left a lot to be desired. This course only included western dishes, but we and many other that we had talked to would also love to learn about meals from other parts of the world.
Thanks for your time. I hope you would take this under consideration and we would have another when this is implements.
Yours faithfully,
Gurjagjot singh waraich

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: describing what you enjoyed, mentioning your cooking frequency since the course, and suggesting a new course. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a course director. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention enjoying the 'interactive parts,' you could have provided more specific detail about what made them enjoyable to fully satisfy the requirements for a Band 7 or higher. The letter is clear and the purpose is well-defined, but the ideas could be expanded with more descriptive language to better engage the reader.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter follows a logical structure, with each paragraph addressing a specific part of the prompt. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'However' and 'Since' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally slightly mechanical. For instance, the transition in the second paragraph could be smoother. Paragraphing is used correctly to separate the different points of your letter. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to create a more natural flow between your sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'enrolled,' 'ingredients,' and 'consideration.' There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'July 12 batch' (which should be 'the July 12th session') and 'when this is implements' (which should be 'implemented'). While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher band scores. Incorporating more varied and sophisticated vocabulary related to cooking and feedback would enhance your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'Since, this me and my wife had used the methords' (which is awkward and contains a spelling error) and 'I hope you would take this under consideration.' Punctuation is generally acceptable, though there are some inconsistencies with capitalization (e.g., 'The lack' in the middle of a sentence). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tense usage will help improve your accuracy.
