Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to provide a feedback about my cookery course, my student ID 5567pgh and my full name is Ali. Overall, I found this course very usefull. The cheaf made the whole class enjoyable along with the best way of teaching through step by step methods which were easy to understand and remember and cannot forget.
Firstly, The instructer gave attention to each candidate even if they were shy, he approached and provided steps if tehy missed any part of the method. In addition, to this most of the time it is entertaining, as cheaf use to shows some methods to to do it faster and precised. Along with that he was super friendly and never got angry when we were asking questiosn to him. Through this I've learned so many dishes and this will help me achive my future goals.
Furthermore, I would like the school to provide some advance course related to this and I would like to learn from the same instructor.
I would also like to state that provide some sort of discount for the existing candidates, due to which more candidates will register for the course, because this mootivates the instructor more and many more things can be learned from all the candidates different kinds of dishes from different countries.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Ali

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task. You described what you enjoyed, mentioned your cooking practice, and suggested a new course. However, the second bullet point regarding how much cooking you have done since the course is not explicitly answered; you mention learning dishes, but you do not state how often you have cooked at home. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although some parts, such as the request for a discount, feel slightly tangential to the core purpose of providing feedback on the course experience. To improve, ensure each bullet point is addressed with specific, clear information.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'In addition', and 'Furthermore' to link your ideas. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or repetitive, and the flow between sentences within paragraphs is occasionally disrupted by grammatical errors. For example, the sentence 'In addition, to this most of the time it is entertaining' is a bit clunky. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your referencing (e.g., 'this', 'that') clearly points back to the intended noun.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your meaning, such as 'candidate', 'instructor', and 'consideration'. However, there are several spelling errors ('usefull', 'cheaf', 'instructer', 'tehy', 'precised', 'questiosn', 'mootivates') and some awkward word choices. The use of 'cheaf' instead of 'chef' and 'precised' instead of 'precisely' indicates a need for more careful proofreading. While your vocabulary is adequate for the task, the frequency of spelling mistakes limits your score. Try to focus on accurate spelling and using more precise collocations to improve your lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'I am writing to provide a feedback' (should be 'provide feedback'), 'cheaf use to shows' (should be 'chef used to show'), and 'due to which more candidates will register'. These errors occasionally make the text difficult to follow. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar, such as subject-verb agreement and article usage, prevents a higher score. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction before attempting more complex structures.
