Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all three bullet points of the task. You successfully described what you enjoyed, mentioned your post-course cooking activities, and suggested a new course. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why you enjoyed the course is a bit repetitive, and the suggestion for a new course could be more detailed regarding why you think it would be a valuable addition to the school's curriculum. To improve, try to expand on your ideas with more specific examples or justifications to ensure the response feels fully developed rather than just listing points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'In addition to that', and 'Moreover'. However, some of these transitions feel a bit mechanical or are used incorrectly, such as 'However' at the start of the third paragraph, which does not logically contrast with the previous sentence. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'from their I gain more comments', where the pronoun usage is confusing. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words will help the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using phrases like 'plethora of things' and 'keen interest'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'I learn plethora of things' (missing article), 'my team mates also did lots of efforts' (incorrect collocation), and 'it assist me to work hard' (tense error). While your meaning is generally clear, these errors prevent the vocabulary from being considered 'sufficiently flexible' for a higher band. Focusing on correct word combinations and basic grammatical accuracy with nouns and verbs will significantly improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('I learn' instead of 'I learned'), tense inconsistencies ('I enjoy' instead of 'I enjoyed'), and missing articles ('on short cookery course'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To reach a higher band, focus on maintaining consistent verb tenses throughout your narrative and ensuring that basic sentence construction rules are followed.
