Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: describing the enjoyment of the course, detailing subsequent cooking practice, and suggesting a new course. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a course director. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, while you mention enjoying the course, the description of 'quality of cooking skills' is a bit vague. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples of what was taught or why the teaching style was effective. The ideas are relevant and the purpose of the letter is clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each addressing a specific part of the prompt. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'After completing this full course', and 'On the other hand' to transition between ideas. While the progression is generally clear, some of the linking is slightly mechanical. The referencing is mostly accurate, although there is a slight confusion in the introduction where you refer to yourself as 'Shilpa' but sign off as 'Tamanna'. Ensuring consistency in your persona is important for maintaining a professional tone.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'specialization', 'pursue their career', and 'genuinely admire'. However, there are some noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'doing well in your life' (which is unnatural in this context) and 'all three time meal' (should be 'three meals a day'). Additionally, there are minor errors like 'deserts' instead of 'desserts'. While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the score as they show a lack of precision in more complex expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I hadn't event heard' (should be 'even'), 'there career' (should be 'their'), and 'that becomes my responsibility too to cook'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of possessive pronouns (their vs. there). Increasing the variety of error-free complex sentences will help you move into the higher bands.
