Student answer (Band 6.0)
dear sir,
I am writing this latter to give my feedback on a cooking course that i did in in school. I am proud of my self that I completed this course and get knowledge about cooking which will help me throughout my life. the best enjoyable movement about this course is a game we played, sharing food to your friends and get reviews from them and you. Not only that but tips which you gave if you found big error and solve it in funny way.
Because of that course, I want to tell you with proud that I am cooking more often then before for instance, I fix my schedule with my parents that i need to cook every Sunday and serve to everyone, whatever they like. Sometime i took help from my mom but mostly i prepare by myself.
after experiencing that course I am suggesting to offer a course that base on desert specially, as mostly we learn , which is on daily basis cooking. we did not learn dairy product related cooking.
I am sure that you will think about that and conduct course with planning.
your faithfully,
kush

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: describing what you enjoyed, explaining your current cooking habits, and suggesting a new course. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention enjoying the 'game' and the 'tips', the explanation remains a bit vague. Similarly, your suggestion for a dessert course is clear, but it could be more persuasive if you explained why you think it would be popular or beneficial. To improve, try to expand on your points with more specific details or examples to fully develop your ideas within the context of a formal letter.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some basic cohesive devices like 'Because of that course' and 'Not only that but'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the connection between ideas is slightly disjointed, such as in the final paragraph. The use of referencing is occasionally unclear, which makes the progression of ideas feel a bit repetitive. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'feedback', 'schedule', and 'experience'. However, there are several word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'latter' instead of 'letter', 'movement' instead of 'moment', and 'desert' instead of 'dessert'. These errors do not prevent understanding, but they do indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage. To reach a higher band, focus on using more accurate collocations and ensuring that your spelling is consistent with the intended meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with verb tense consistency ('I did', 'I am suggesting'), article usage ('in in school'), and subject-verb agreement ('tips which you gave if you found big error'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization and comma placement. While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall fluency of the letter. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage would significantly improve your accuracy.
