Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I am writing to express my satisfaction after completing the cookery course which was held last weekend at your institution.
To be honest, I had enjoyed every activity of cookery course. However one activity that mostly liked by students is cake baking class in which the more excited task was decoration. Moreover, the way of delineating steps of cooking was incredible as we learnt that steps in facile way.
Furthermore, I have made plethora of cuisines and dishes daily, after the completion of course which make my mother proud. The guide book of your class helped me in effective way.
I recommend you to launch the another cookery course in which I would definately enroll with other siblings and friends because institute's teaching method is incredible and easy to keep in mind.
I hope you considered my suggestion and would launched the new course very soon.
Kind regards,
Raman

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: describing what you enjoyed, mentioning your recent cooking activity, and suggesting a new course. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention enjoying the cake baking class, providing a specific detail about a technique or a flavor would have made the response more engaging. The suggestion for a new course is clear, but could be more specific regarding the type of cuisine or skill level. Overall, the task is fulfilled, but the depth of information is basic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'However' to link your thoughts. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or are used in contexts where they do not flow naturally. For example, the transition between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'the more excited task', which is grammatically awkward and disrupts the flow of the sentence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using words like 'institution', 'delineating', and 'plethora'. However, there are several instances of unnatural word choice or collocation errors. For example, 'facile way' is not commonly used in this context, and 'excited task' is incorrect; 'exciting' would be the appropriate adjective. There are also minor errors in phrasing, such as 'made plethora of cuisines', which lacks the necessary article 'a'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'I had enjoyed' (should be 'I enjoyed'), 'mostly liked by students' (should be 'most liked by students'), and 'would launched' (should be 'would launch'). There are also issues with article usage and verb tense consistency. While the meaning remains clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct tense usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
