Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
Thank you so much for reaching out to me and allowing me to provide feedback on the cookery course that I did at your facility, I appreciate alot and I really enjjoyed pursuing the course.
The course did not just allow me to attend at my flexible hours but also the presence of a wonderful team made it more memorable, and the team that I was in was very enthusiastic and innovative.
After the completion of my course I was excited to try the recipe and making something special every alternative days. Although I failed at times I would still keep trying. However, everyone who tried my dishes complimented them and savoured it.
I had a wonderful and memorable time at the school and would definitely look forward to pursue another course. My family and I personally love Italian food and would wish if you could introduce this in your cirruculum, I would delighted to enroll in this course.
Thank you once again and hope to hear from you soon.
Yours sincerely,
James Brook

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You described your enjoyment of the course, provided information about your cooking frequency since the course, and suggested an Italian cookery course. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a course director. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, when mentioning the 'wonderful team', you could briefly explain what specific teaching style or support made them stand out. Overall, the response is clear, relevant, and fully meets the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt, which aids readability. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Although', 'However', and 'After the completion of', which help to link ideas. To improve, try to vary your transitions further and ensure that the flow between sentences is smoother. For example, the transition between the second and third paragraph could be more seamless. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the overall structure is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'enthusiastic and innovative' and 'complimented them and savoured it' are effective. There are a few minor errors, such as 'every alternative days' (should be 'every other day') and 'cirruculum' (spelling error). While the vocabulary is adequate for the task, incorporating more precise collocations or slightly more sophisticated synonyms would help elevate the score. The errors present do not impede communication, but they do highlight a need for more careful proofreading of word forms and spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'The course did not just allow me to... but also...'. However, there are several grammatical slips, including 'I appreciate alot' (should be 'a lot'), 'enjjoyed' (spelling), and 'would wish if you could' (should be 'would like it if you could' or 'would appreciate it if you could'). Additionally, 'look forward to pursue' should be 'look forward to pursuing'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences will help improve this score.
