Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task effectively. You described your enjoyment of the course, specifically mentioning the professional instruction and the opportunity to meet a famous chef. You also provided information regarding the time spent cooking since the course and suggested a new course on Korean cuisine. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a course director. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are slightly more developed; for instance, when mentioning your cooking since the course, you could elaborate more on the specific techniques you have applied at home to demonstrate the impact of the training more clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt, which helps the reader follow your ideas easily. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To commence with' and 'Other than that', although some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the flow between sentences is smoother. For example, the transition between your experience with the chef and the total hours spent could be more fluid to enhance the overall coherence of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly, including terms like 'culinary skills', 'domestic food', and 'global recognition'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'gain more knowledge about distinct cuisine of international' (should be 'international cuisines') and 'my kids fascinated about' (should be 'my kids were fascinated by'). While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the text from reaching a higher band. Focusing on correct word forms and natural collocations will help you demonstrate more flexibility and precision in your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'opportunity to met' (should be 'opportunity to meet'), 'only fond on' (should be 'only fond of'), and 'I would love to rejoin again' (redundant). Additionally, some sentence fragments, such as 'Working with professionals and having world class teaching from them', lack a main verb. While these errors rarely impede the reader's understanding, they are frequent enough to impact the score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that every sentence contains a clear subject and a finite verb.
