- suggest another cookery course you’d like the school to offer
You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Begin your letter as follows:
Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to give you a feedback related to a cookery course that I had completed last week. I have done this course in the presence of Mr. Shah and the duration was of five weeks.
To begin with, this course helped me a lot in improving my cooking skills such as how to overcome the situation if there is more salt. Secondly, the professor was always in a good mood, making us feel motivated to cook new dishes all the time
Regarding the cooking, I had tried to cook various cookies
with the mixture of berries and chocolate chips and got excellent results. Moreover, I am experimenting to mix mango pump into the cookies.
I would suggest that a puff pastry course will be an excellent idea to add in your course list. Also, many people nowadays want to bake puff at home, your course will help them a lot.
I hope you will consider my request and I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Anshu Patel

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You described what you enjoyed, mentioned your recent cooking practice, and suggested a new course. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a course director. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of how to 'overcome the situation if there is more salt' is a bit vague and could have been expanded to show more specific learning. Similarly, the suggestion for a puff pastry course is clear, but providing a brief reason why this would be popular or beneficial would have strengthened the response further.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each addressing a specific part of the prompt. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Secondly', and 'Moreover' to transition between ideas. While these are effective, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical. For example, the transition between the cooking experience and the suggestion for a new course could be smoother. The use of paragraphing is appropriate, and the overall structure follows the standard conventions of a formal letter, which helps the reader follow your points easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'motivated', 'experimenting', and 'duration'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'give you a feedback' is incorrect; it should be 'give you feedback'. 'Mango pump' is likely a misuse of 'mango pulp', and 'bake puff' is not standard terminology for 'baking puff pastry'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over collocations and noun phrases to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I have done this course in the presence of Mr. Shah' (which sounds slightly unnatural; 'under the instruction of' would be better) and 'the duration was of five weeks' (the 'of' is unnecessary). Additionally, there is a minor punctuation error in the second paragraph where a full stop is missing. Despite these errors, the meaning is always clear, and the grammar does not significantly hinder the reader's understanding of your message.
