Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: describing what you enjoyed, mentioning your cooking practice, and suggesting a new course. However, the development of these ideas is quite limited. For example, your explanation of why you enjoyed the course is somewhat vague, and the suggestion for a new course is not fully elaborated. To improve, you should provide more specific details or reasons for your points. The tone is also slightly inconsistent for a formal letter, as it lacks a standard closing and uses informal phrasing like 'Meet mam'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter lacks clear paragraphing, which makes it difficult to follow the progression of ideas. While you use some basic cohesive devices like 'because' and 'so', the flow between sentences is often disjointed. The transition between your enjoyment of the course and your suggestion for a new one is abrupt. To reach a higher band, you should organize your response into distinct paragraphs for each point and use a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more smoothly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You rely on simple words like 'good', 'helpful', and 'well'. There are also some errors in word choice, such as 'food product is so well' and 'make their carrier on it', which hinder clarity. To improve, try to use more precise vocabulary related to cooking and education, such as 'culinary techniques', 'practical experience', or 'career prospects'. Expanding your range of adjectives and collocations will help you express your ideas more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with verb tenses ('I formally write', 'everyone is so helpful and teach me'), articles ('The one of the reasons'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple, and there is a lack of complex structures. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capital letters and incorrect sentence boundaries. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence construction before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
