Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I am pleased to write this letter in response of my cooking experience in your cookery course.
I joined your special summer classes in which, I have learned cooking all types of traditional India dishes as well as some sweets. Before this knowledge cooking was a huge milestone, which I was not be able to achieve. But with help of your instructions and way of teaching I learned so well, even I got a job at well reputable restaurant. Moreover, I cook food for my family everyday since I have done my studies. Now I can cook dishes like Malai kofta, Sahi Pneer, Dal Makhni without any one's help. In addition to this I can make sweets like Kaser Barfi, Khoa Barfi, Rasugula by my self.
A part from this, I want to suggest that you should start classes to teach some international dishes as well for instance, noodles, tacos etcetera.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the prompt: describing what you enjoyed, mentioning your cooking frequency since the course, and suggesting a new course. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented. However, the development of these points is somewhat basic. For instance, while you mention getting a job, expanding slightly on how the course specifically helped you achieve that would have added more depth. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a course director, though the opening 'Dear Sir' is slightly abrupt compared to the requested 'Dear Sir or Madam'. Overall, you have fulfilled the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical progression, moving from your experience to your current practice and finally to your suggestion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'In addition to this', and 'A part from this' to link your ideas. However, the paragraphing is a bit disjointed; the second paragraph is quite long and contains several distinct ideas that could have been separated for better flow. Additionally, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Improving the use of referencing and ensuring each paragraph focuses on a single clear theme would help improve the overall structure and flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully naming specific dishes and using terms like 'reputable restaurant'. However, there are some spelling errors ('Sahi Pneer' instead of 'Shahi Paneer', 'Kaser' instead of 'Kesar', 'Rasugula' instead of 'Rasgulla') and minor word choice issues, such as 'in response of' instead of 'in response to'. The phrase 'cooking was a huge milestone' is also slightly unnatural in this context. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring the spelling of specific terminology is accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'I was not be able to achieve' (should be 'I was not able to achieve'), 'everyday since I have done my studies' (should be 'every day since I finished'), and 'by my self' (should be 'myself'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some issues with comma placement, such as 'in which, I have learned'. While these errors do not prevent the message from being understood, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading of basic verb tenses and prepositions.
