Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points: describing enjoyment, mentioning current cooking habits, and suggesting a new course. However, the development of these points is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation of what you enjoyed is brief, and the suggestion for a new course is slightly confused in its phrasing. To improve, you should expand on your ideas with more specific details—such as mentioning a particular dish you learned or explaining why you want to learn Japanese or Chinese cuisine specifically. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, though the closing 'Your faithfully' contains a minor error.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the logical progression is occasionally hindered by grammatical errors. For instance, the transition in the second paragraph is a bit abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the relationship between sentences is clearer and more natural.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your message, such as 'cooperative', 'culinary skills', and 'ingredients'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'I am just wondering I you couple be able to suggest me' and 'trying making new kind a food'. These errors do not prevent understanding, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that your word choices are natural for the context of a formal request.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. Examples include 'the staff is very cooperative which helped me to learn about such course' (article usage), 'I was not good in culinary skills' (preposition error), and 'I really appreciate to you' (incorrect verb structure). While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall fluency of the text. Working on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles will significantly improve your accuracy.
