Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all parts of the task prompt effectively. You successfully described what you enjoyed about the course, mentioning the helpful teachers and how you learned different kinds of recipes. You also explained how much cooking you have done since the course by noting that you can now prepare meals and even helped a friend. Furthermore, you made a clear suggestion for another cookery course by recommending a bakery course. The tone of the letter is appropriate for a formal communication with a course director. While some points could be slightly more elaborated to reach the highest band levels, all bullet points are fully addressed and easy to follow. Therefore, your task achievement is solid.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear beginning and ending. You used appropriate salutations and sign-offs, such as 'Dear Sir,' and 'Yours Sincerely,'. Paragraphing is used to separate different ideas, which helps guide the reader through your thoughts. However, there are some minor mechanical issues with cohesion and punctuation spacing, such as spaces before commas (e.g., 'course , teachers') and abrupt transitions between sentences. Pronoun referencing is generally clear, but smoother transitional phrases would enhance the flow of your writing and elevate your score further.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrated an adequate range of vocabulary for this task. You used terms related to the topic such as 'culinary skills', 'recipes', and 'cookery course'. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, but word choices and collocations occasionally show minor inaccuracies, such as 'done my cookery course' instead of 'completed my cookery course' or 'keep try' instead of 'keep trying'. Spelling is mostly accurate, though punctuation errors related to spacing around commas appear frequently. The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate your message clearly, fitting the band 6 criteria well.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence forms. You attempted some complex structures using conjunctions and clauses, such as 'Although...' or conditional ideas, but these often contained grammatical slips. There are several noticeable errors with verb tenses and auxiliary verbs, including 'Recently, I have done' (which should be simple past: 'I recently completed') and 'she also do not know' (should be 'she also did not know'). Additionally, there are issues with subject-verb agreement and word forms, such as 'until its not done properly' and 'you should introduced' (should be 'introduce'). These errors occasionally distract the reader, but meaning is still conveyed.
