Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your letter successfully addresses all parts of the task. You clearly describe what you enjoyed about the course, mentioning the teaching methods and staff communication, and you state how much cooking you have done since, noting your weekend meals and Italian dishes for your brother. You also successfully suggest another cookery course focused on South Indian food. To reach a higher band, your ideas could be more fully and deeply extended, as some points, such as your enjoyment of the staff communication, are introduced briefly without further elaboration or specific examples from the lessons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
Your letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression of ideas from your initial feedback to your future course suggestion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate each main point of the task. Cohesive devices are employed to link your thoughts, although some referencing and transitions feel slightly mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'When I joined the class' and basic conjunctive links. To move towards a higher band, you would need to employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices and ensure that referencing between sentences is entirely smooth and unobtrusive.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common phrases such as 'fermentation process' and 'passionate'. However, there are noticeable vocabulary and spelling errors, such as 'reciepes' instead of 'recipes', 'different kind' instead of 'different kinds', and 'convinence' instead of 'convenience'. Furthermore, word choices like 'keen interested' instead of 'keenly interested' or 'keen on' show some inaccuracy. These errors do not impede communication, but they reflect a typical profile where vocabulary control needs to be more precise and spelling more accurate to secure a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures such as conditional and subordinate clauses like 'Although, I have busy schedule on week days, I cook food on weekends'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles ('a busy schedule') and a misplaced comma after 'Although'. However, these errors are relatively infrequent and rarely impede communication, allowing your meaning to remain clear throughout the letter. To achieve a higher band, you would need to exhibit a wider variety of error-free complex structures and tighter control over punctuation and article usage.
