Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, successfully mentioning what was enjoyed about the course, the cooking done since, and suggesting a future course. However, the development of these ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. For example, describing enjoyment is restricted to general statements like "I am so happy the complete this course" and "I did feel that I am work same like home there," rather than elaborating on specific classes, instructors, or techniques. Similarly, the suggestion for a future course focuses narrowly on "rice cookies." Because the ideas remain relatively basic and under-developed, the response partially addresses the task while lacking the extended explanation needed for a higher level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The letter displays some general organisation through a basic structure, including a salutation, a body separated into paragraphs, and a sign-off. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression, and the arrangement of ideas feels somewhat disjointed. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or overused, such as the awkward transition phrases "To commence with," "In other words,", and "Further more,", which do not accurately reflect the logical relationships between sentences. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of information smoothly from one point to the next.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer relies heavily on basic, repetitive words and phrases such as "cookery course," "food," "home," and "happy." There are noticeable lexical errors, including incorrect word forms and awkward collocations like "happy the complete this course" and "many cooking I have done." These errors and the restricted vocabulary range cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the expression from achieving precision or flexibility.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response shows a very limited range of grammatical structures, consisting mostly of simple sentences alongside unsuccessful or faulty attempts at complex clauses. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including tense inconsistencies ("When I was child that time I was making...", "I was come there"), missing articles ("join the cookery course"), preposition errors, and run-on sentence constructions linked improperly by commas. These persistent errors make many sentences difficult to parse, though the general intent of the message can still be partially understood.
