Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points: you describe enjoying the teaching and weekend competitions, explain that you now cook for your family every day, and suggest a cake-baking course. These details make the letter relevant and give the reader a clear sense of your experience. The account of cooking since the course is particularly specific, while the proposed course is explained by noting that cake is popular for occasions. Some ideas are less fully developed: for example, you could mention a dish or skill you learned, and clarify what you would like a baking course to cover. The purpose is clear, but a more polished opening and closing would make the letter feel more complete and appropriately formal.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The information follows a sensible order: feedback on the course, your cooking since attending, and a suggestion for a future course. Separate paragraphs help distinguish these points, and phrases such as “but now” and “because” show relationships between ideas. However, some connections are awkward or unclear, particularly “I found very interesting and fun course” and the shift from the competition to what participants made. The opening and closing are also not clearly separated from the main message, and the final sentence does not provide a natural sign-off. Use clearer topic sentences and linking phrases, and make sure each paragraph develops one point smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main message, with relevant terms such as “teaching style,” “participants,” “variety of dishes,” and “responsibility.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations sound unnatural, which makes parts of the letter less clear. For example, “I love your's teaching style” and “I will be wonder” do not express your meaning naturally; “I enjoyed your teaching style” and “I would be delighted” would be more suitable. There are also spelling errors, including “attened,” “responsibilty,” and “chor[s].” Check spelling carefully and learn common phrases for giving feedback and making polite suggestions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a reason clause in “because my mother have a workload” and a contrast in “I did not do cooking before joining the course but now…”. These attempts help convey relationships between ideas, but errors in sentence construction and grammar are noticeable. For example, “I found very interesting and fun course” needs a subject and article, while “my mother have” has incorrect subject–verb agreement. The sentence beginning “I will be wonder if” also has an inaccurate verb pattern, and several sentences run ideas together without suitable punctuation. Practise accurate article use, agreement, and polite conditional forms, then proofread each sentence for a complete structure.
