Student answer (Band 4.5)

Dear Sir,

I hope you are doing well. I am really very pleased to describe my happiness and some enjoyable moments that I would like to share with you that I have enjoyed during my cookery course at your school.

To begin with, the duration of cookery course was nearly 2 years, which I cannot forget in my whole life. There are myriad of things I enjoyed most ,while doing this course such as staff taught us how to prepare all the dishes just in few mintues with smart work. Overall, my all classmate was very cooperative, always try to help each other.

Furthermore, it took me around 2 years to complete 4 semesters of this course. Despite, first day of my class was very stressful moment for me, but I did a lot tremendous struggle to fulfill this course with dedication and doing hard work.

I would be grateful if you could add extra cookery courses in school to encourage young generation in order to succeed in life. By introducing new courses may assist to everyone to set their career in the field of cooking.

I hope to hearing from you promptly

yours faithfully

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The letter gives some relevant feedback about the course, including the helpful teaching and cooperative classmates, and it suggests that the school offer additional cookery courses. However, the task is only minimally addressed because the key point about how much cooking you have done since finishing the course is not answered. The statement that the course took two years describes its duration, not your cooking activity afterwards. The enjoyment section also focuses more on the course’s length and effort than on specific enjoyable experiences. To make the response more complete, describe a dish or skill you particularly enjoyed learning, explain how often you have cooked since the course, and name a specific course you would like the school to offer.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic letter structure, with an opening, separate paragraphs and a closing, and signposts such as “To begin with” and “Furthermore” show an attempt to organise ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the second paragraph repeats the course’s two-year duration rather than moving to cooking after the course. Some links are also awkward or unclear: “Despite” does not connect correctly to the following clause, and “By introducing new courses may assist” lacks a clear grammatical subject. Improve the sequence by giving each task point its own focused paragraph and using straightforward links to show how the ideas relate.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary, including “cooperative,” “dedication,” and “encourage,” and the reader can generally understand the topic. However, the range is limited and several phrases are unnatural or imprecise, which makes the letter less clear and fluent. For example, “myriad of things I enjoyed most” and “a lot tremendous struggle” do not express the intended ideas naturally; “in just few mintues” also contains a spelling error. Choose direct, accurate expressions for your feedback and avoid inflated wording. More precise cookery vocabulary, such as naming a technique or dish you learned, would help you explain your experience and make the suggested course more specific.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The letter attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, but control is uneven, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences awkward to read. Examples include “There are myriad of things I enjoyed,” where the tense and article pattern are faulty, and “Overall, my all classmate was very cooperative,” which has problems with determiner use and subject–verb agreement. The sentence beginning “Despite, first day…” is also not formed correctly, while “I hope to hearing from you” uses the wrong verb form. Practise building accurate sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check articles, plurals, tense consistency and verb patterns before submitting.
