Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir/Madam,

I hope this email finds you in good health. I am Precious, one of the Ex student form your cookery school and i am using this medium to respond back to the message i received. I am sorry for the late response.

It was a great session while under your tutelage and i must say, the platform gave me that visibility and was able to network with various participants. On that note, i enjoyed the lectures from the foundation to the technical aspect of the course. Furthermore, one of my best academic outline was '' Making of Jacket Potatoes''. I fancied how the tutor diced the potatoes bit by bit, how it was sauced and finally grilled. It was such an amazing experience time and moment for me.

Having graduated from the college, i have taking it upon myself to practicalized and by so, i have always been cooking daily. In future, i think of establishing a cooking class and having a restaurant . This will be a source of employment to others and also adequate knowledge passed down to others.

It will be such a dream come through if the school can update their curriculum by adding a course i like so much. It is an Italian cuisine which i saw on forbes magazine, i will be glad if this can be introduced into their course outline

Thank you so much for your consideration as i am hoping to hearing from you soon.

Yours faithfully,

Precious

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address all three requested points: you describe enjoying the teaching and the jacket-potato lesson, say that you cook daily, and request an Italian-cuisine course. The specific example of watching the potatoes being prepared makes the positive feedback relevant and personal. This meets the task well overall, but some points are less fully developed: “Italian cuisine” is broad, so name a particular style or dishes and explain what you would hope to learn. The cooking-frequency point is clear, while the future plans to open a class and restaurant take space without explaining how the course has influenced your cooking. A more direct, focused letter would develop the requested feedback more evenly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening, a paragraph about the course, one about your cooking since it ended, and a final request. Connectors such as “Furthermore” and “On that note” help signal relationships between ideas, and the reader can follow the main message. However, some linking feels mechanical or does not clarify the relationship between points; “On that note” is followed by a description that could simply continue the previous sentence. The paragraph about future employment also interrupts the focus on how much you have cooked. Improve progression by keeping each paragraph centred on one task point and using clearer references, especially when moving from the course experience to your own practice.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of vocabulary, including “tutelage,” “technical aspect,” “network,” and “curriculum,” and these choices show an effort to express more than basic ideas. Some wording is nevertheless inaccurate or unnatural, which makes parts of the letter less clear or less suitable for a formal feedback letter. For example, “visibility” does not clearly describe what the course provided, and “academic outline” is an awkward way to refer to a lesson or topic. Phrases such as “practicalized” and “dream come through” also show problems with word form or collocation. Choose familiar, precise expressions when unsure, and check that each less common word fits its context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple and more extended sentence forms, including the sentence beginning “Furthermore” and the conditional request, “It will be such a dream… if the school can…”. The main ideas remain understandable, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction limit accuracy. Examples include “i have taking it upon myself,” “i am hoping to hearing,” and “one of my best academic outline was,” where the verb form or agreement is incorrect. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in repeated lowercase “i” and the spacing before the full stop in “restaurant .”. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb, then proofread punctuation and capital letters.
