Student answer (Band 4.5)
Hi sir,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing a feedback regarding a short cookery course which occured at school.
I am a food sciences student at school and taking part in cooker competition was my pleasure. To be honest, it was useful for my both personal and professional life. I did not had any idea that I can be good at cooking but this course made me relized I can be.
Especially, after this course I have cooked a lot of delishes dishes at my home and got beutiful compliments from family and friends. I was not expecting that I could do best because I my major subjest is about food and cooking.
I personally request to principle that there should be such events and competitions for student related food and cooking. So that they can learn more about it and become good in personal and professional life. This thing helps student to enhance their confident and makes believed in achiving a significant role in life.
I hope you understand my fact and helps in promoting such events around students.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You do address the general subject of the course and mention enjoying its usefulness, cooking at home afterwards, and wanting more food-related activities. However, the required points are only partly covered: you do not clearly describe what you enjoyed about the course itself, and “cooked a lot” gives no specific indication of how much or how often you have cooked. The requested course is also replaced by a general suggestion for “events and competitions,” rather than naming a course the school could offer. The letter is addressed to the principal, although the task asks for the course director, and the informal opening does not follow the supplied greeting. Develop each point directly and make the request specific.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is some organisation: the response moves from an introduction to your experience, cooking after the course, and a suggestion for future activities. Paragraph breaks help separate these ideas. However, the progression is not consistently clear, and some links between sentences are difficult to follow. For example, “I was not expecting that I could do best because I my major subject is about food and cooking” does not clearly explain the relationship between your expectations and your studies. The final paragraph also combines a request, its purpose, and a broad claim without clear development. Use one focused paragraph for each task point, and connect ideas with precise references rather than relying on “this thing” and “so that.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “cookery course,” “cooking,” “competitions,” and “personal and professional life,” so the reader can identify the general subject. The range is nevertheless limited, and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors make parts less clear, such as “delishes,” “beutiful,” “subjest,” and “confident” where the noun form is needed. Some phrases are also unnatural, including “I am writing a feedback” and “understand my fact.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and more specific language about the course and your cooking experience. Proofreading spelling and choosing standard expressions would make your meaning easier to follow.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including “I hope you are doing well” and a sentence beginning “So that they can learn more about it.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in verb forms, articles, agreement, and sentence construction occur often enough to affect clarity. Examples include “I did not had any idea,” “this course made me relized,” and “helps in promoting,” where the verb forms do not fit the sentence. The sentence beginning “I was not expecting” also contains a broken clause structure. Practise forming complete sentences and checking subject–verb agreement and verb patterns. A few accurate complex sentences would be more effective than longer sentences with several errors.
