Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear sir or Madam,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing this letter to deliver my feedback after attending cookery course in your school.
I woulid like to appreciate your professional team of their patients and support. I joined the couse with zero knowledge of cooking but i was keen to learn. The instructor started with basic reciepies to the advanced ones at the end. I also would like to mention the quality of the ingredients were high quality which made our calss more efficient.
I have done many cooking trials last days. My family were surprised with the White Sauce Paste yesterday. In addition, the Cheese Cake reciepe that i have learned during our calss becomes a mandatory in my weekly menu plan.
Since this course was successful, I woulk like to suggesst new specified couses related to Desserts, Main Dishes or Beverages such as, Smoothies.
It was my pleasure to had the chance to apply in your school.
Yours Faithfully,
Nada Abas

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points: you describe the instructor’s support and the progression from basic to advanced recipes, explain that you have cooked several dishes since the course, and suggest courses in desserts, main dishes, or beverages. The examples of white sauce and cheesecake make your follow-up cooking specific. The purpose and generally appreciative tone are clear. However, the enjoyment point is developed more through praise than through a clear account of what you personally enjoyed, and the proposed courses remain broad rather than explaining which one you would most like or why. This covers the task well overall, but fuller development of these ideas would make the response more complete and persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall sequence: opening and course feedback, cooking since the course, a suggestion for future courses, and a closing. Paragraphing helps the reader identify the three main points, and transitions such as “In addition” and “Since this course was successful” connect ideas. Some links are less natural or precise, however. “Since this course was successful” does not clearly explain the connection between the course and the suggestion, while “I have done many cooking trials last days” is not a smooth transition into the examples. The closing also feels abrupt after the course suggestion. More precise linking and a slightly fuller final paragraph would make the progression more consistently fluent.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “instructor,” “ingredients,” “weekly menu plan,” and “beverages,” and the dish examples help convey your meaning. There is some attempt at more specific language, but several spelling errors and unnatural word combinations reduce accuracy and polish: “reciepies,” “calss,” and “patients” (apparently intended to mean “patience”) are examples. Phrases such as “cooking trials” and “mandatory in my weekly menu plan” are understandable but not natural in this context. Aim to learn common collocations as complete phrases and check spelling carefully. This would make your vocabulary more precise and natural while retaining the useful topic-specific range already present.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple sentences and some longer structures, for example, “I joined the course with zero knowledge of cooking but I was keen to learn,” and the sequence describing the instructor’s teaching. The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. In “the quality of the ingredients were high quality,” the subject and verb do not agree, and the sentence structure is awkward. “My family were surprised with the White Sauce Paste yesterday” has an unclear preposition, while “It was my pleasure to had the chance” uses the wrong verb form after “to.” Articles and sentence punctuation also need more consistent control. Review these patterns and proofread each sentence; greater accuracy across the longer structures would strengthen the letter.
