Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter to express my feedback for the course I had recently done. I really love cooking so much since I was a child. In your course, I have gained knowledge of varioius international cousines which can help me fulfill my dream of opening my own restaurant one day. Moreover,I have start my own cloud kitchen from my home so I can get some feedback that how I am doing in cooking. Suprisingly, I got very good result and that all happen because the knowledge i got from course.

Other than that, I would like to mention some ideas of some other cookery course. Nowadays, people start trying many thai dishes. So, I believe you should add some courses realted to that and you can add some online cookery listen for the internation audience so they can also learn some international cousines.

Best regards,

Gautam.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address the main points by describing what you gained from the course, explaining that you have started a home-based cloud kitchen, and suggesting Thai cookery and online classes. The link between the course and your restaurant ambition also gives the feedback a personal purpose. However, the enjoyment point is less explicit: you say you love cooking and gained knowledge, but do not clearly identify what you particularly enjoyed during the course. Your account of cooking since then is relevant, though “very good result” would be clearer with a specific example of what you have cooked or how often. The suggestions are understandable but could be developed with a reason or detail about the proposed courses. The letter is appropriately addressed and signed off; clearer development of each point would strengthen it further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall shape: an opening paragraph gives your course feedback and subsequent cooking activity, while the second paragraph introduces suggestions for future courses. Phrases such as “Moreover” and “Other than that” help signal the relationship between ideas, and the reader can follow the main message. Some connections are less smooth or precise, however. “Moreover” introduces the cloud kitchen, but the relationship between starting it and the course feedback could be explained more directly. The second paragraph moves from Thai dishes to online lessons without showing how these suggestions relate. Paragraphing is appropriate, but more deliberate sequencing and clearer links between supporting details would make the progression feel less mechanical and more cohesive.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “international cuisines,” “cloud kitchen,” “restaurant,” and “online cookery lessons,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts to use more specific expressions, such as “fulfill my dream.” However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “varioius,” “cousines,” “Suprisingly,” and “realted.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise: “express my feedback for” and “get some feedback that how I am doing in cooking” do not sound idiomatic. The range is adequate for communicating the basic message, but accuracy and natural collocation are inconsistent. Check spelling carefully and learn common phrases for giving feedback and describing cooking experience.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including the relative clause in “knowledge … which can help me” and the purpose clause “so I can get some feedback.” The overall meaning remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “the course I had recently done” uses an unsuitable verb construction; “I have start” needs a past participle, and “that all happen” needs a correctly formed past-tense verb. The sentence “I got very good result and that all happen because the knowledge i got from course” also has problems with articles and sentence structure. Punctuation and spacing need attention, particularly “Moreover,I” and the inconsistent capitalisation of “i.” More accurate verb forms and sentence boundaries would improve control.
