Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Madam,
I would like to used this medium to express myself on how I enjoyed the course of cooking in your school. First and foremost I wish to appreciate my teachers who gave full attention to different packages I learnt in the school.
i enjoyed the way the handle each course and the practical aspect of every procedure, I was amazed by the way our teacherd explained different style of cooking meals and serving food.
since then, I have done more than ten working booked in my shops everyday, some persons demand quality foods like vegetable soup, semovita, and pepper sauce and others local foods we have at home. I had the opportunity to employ a helper that brings fresh food stuffs for me from the market and I don't lack anything i have to supply food to different shops that want my services.
in conclusion, I would like to suggest the school pay more attention in teaching people how to make pastry and decoration because that is what many demand now and it gives more income.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points: you describe enjoying the teachers’ attention and practical demonstrations, explain that you have been cooking and supplying food since the course, and recommend teaching pastry-making and decoration. These details make the letter relevant and give the director a clear sense of the course’s impact. The account of your cooking work is more developed than the description of what you enjoyed, which remains fairly general; one specific dish or skill from the course would make that feedback more informative. The suggestion is clear, but explaining briefly why students would benefit from this course would strengthen it further. The letter’s purpose is clear, though a more consistent formal tone would improve its effectiveness.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The ideas follow a sensible overall order: you begin with your reaction to the course, move to your cooking since then, and finish with a recommendation. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these main points, and phrases such as “First and foremost” and “in conclusion” signal progression. However, some linking is mechanical, and the long middle section combines several ideas—customer requests, hiring a helper, and supplying shops—without clear separation. The reference in “different packages I learnt” is also not immediately clear. Use shorter paragraphs and more precise links between related details, so the reader can follow the account without having to infer how each point connects.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “practical aspect,” “vegetable soup,” “fresh food stuffs,” and “pastry and decoration.” This gives the letter enough range to communicate your experience and recommendation. However, several word choices or combinations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “working booked,” “different packages,” and “what many demand now.” These expressions make parts of the account harder to understand and limit the precision of your vocabulary. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling and word forms; for example, describe the number of orders you receive rather than using “working booked.” More precise terms for the cooking skills you learned would also make the feedback more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, sentence boundaries, and capitalization occur across the letter. For example, “I would like to used” needs the base form “use,” while “the way the handle each course” has an unclear subject and verb. The long sentence beginning “since then” joins several complete ideas with commas, making the structure difficult to follow. Capitalization is also inconsistent, as in “i enjoyed” and “since then.” Use a mix of shorter, complete sentences and carefully controlled complex sentences, and check that each clause has a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
