Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address both parts of the question: you explain that money can provide homes, vehicles and travel, and you identify friends, relatives and a simple lifestyle as other sources of happiness. The examples about your friend and colleague help make these points relevant. However, the ideas are brief and sometimes unclear, and the response does not fully explain how money contributes to happiness beyond buying possessions. Your position is also not entirely consistent: the introduction presents both sides, while the conclusion says money can buy luxuries but not happiness without clearly stating how you weigh the two. The response is 11 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop your explanation. Extend each main idea and make your final view explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph about money, a contrasting paragraph about simple living, and a conclusion. The use of “On the other hand” helps signal the shift between the two main ideas, and examples are placed with the points they support. However, some linking is mechanical or inaccurate, as in “To commence with” and “In addition,” and punctuation around transitions is inconsistent. The introduction’s promise that both sides “will discuss” is awkward, while the conclusion’s “whatotjerside” makes the relationship between ideas difficult to follow. Improve progression by linking each explanation directly to the question of happiness, and use clear sentence boundaries and references so readers can follow the contrast without relying on formulaic transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “luxurious lifestyle,” “relatives,” “simple life,” and “travel,” and you attempt some less common expressions. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or spellings make parts difficult to understand: “abundance amount,” “rackon,” “fourthcoming frequents,” and “luxourios” are examples. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “enjoyed their life with eating streets foods” and “travel with different nations.” These issues fit a level where vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the basic ideas but errors are noticeable and can cause difficulty. Build accuracy by learning common collocations for money, lifestyle and relationships, and check spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, for example, “with the alot of money people can make life easier than others because they can buy anything.” This shows an effort to explain and support ideas, but complex constructions are often faulty, and errors sometimes make the meaning hard to follow. Examples include “one of my friend have,” “they really enjoyed thier life,” and “with the less money people enjoy,” which show problems with agreement, articles and sentence structure. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly in the opening and conclusion. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clear supporting clause, then check subject–verb agreement, articles and plural forms. Greater control of these basics will make your ideas easier to understand.
