Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both the role of money in happiness and alternative sources of fulfillment. The position is clear throughout. Ideas are generally well-developed, such as the link between financial stability and reduced stress, or the importance of family time. However, some points, like the mention of 'good grades,' could be extended further to reach a higher band. The structure is logical, and the response maintains a consistent focus on the topic. To improve, ensure that examples are fully integrated into the argument rather than listed, and provide more depth to the analysis of non-monetary happiness.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two main ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'Moreover,' and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, there is some mechanical use of these devices, and occasionally, the flow between sentences feels slightly repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, though some transitions could be more sophisticated to improve the overall flow. The progression of ideas is logical, moving from the benefits of wealth to the importance of personal achievements and relationships.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common items like 'pivotal role,' 'unforeseen consequences,' and 'arduous.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'fortune access them' (should be 'allows them access') and 'every types of amenities' (should be 'all types of amenities'). While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Expanding the range of precise vocabulary and focusing on natural collocations would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'good financial stability act,' 'wealthy person can receive') and article usage (e.g., 'as low-income person'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors, such as the unnecessary capitalization in 'Therefore, In certain situations.' The errors are noticeable but rarely impede communication. To improve, the student should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and refining the use of complex sentence structures.
