Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing how money contributes to happiness and identifying other sources of joy. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. The argument regarding money leading to crime is a bit disconnected from the prompt's focus on personal happiness. Furthermore, the response is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the analysis. To improve, you should expand on your examples and ensure your arguments are more directly linked to the core question. The position is clear, but the overall development is limited by the brevity of the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'To beyond this' or 'expects money'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between ideas feels abrupt. While there is an overall progression, the lack of sophisticated linking words makes the flow feel somewhat disjointed. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'anfogottable' (spelling error) and 'full their hearts'. The use of 'superpower' is slightly informal for an essay. While the meaning is generally clear, the limited range of vocabulary prevents a more nuanced discussion. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations and academic vocabulary related to the topic of lifestyle and well-being.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('money lead', 'questions are arising', 'people are often go') and incorrect article usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent and noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence construction. Increasing the accuracy of your complex sentences will help you move toward a higher band score.
