Student answer (Band 7.0)
In recent years many people believe that possessing a lot of wealth is the main reason for their happy . Whereas, many tend to believe that relationships and emotional support can also make human beings joyful.
To begin with, having a lot of money gives individual the authority to purchase whatever they want without giving it a double thought . People who have a lot of cash are valued and appreciated by the society and are taken good care of. For example, If a famous business man is called to a business exhibition it is very evident that everyone around him will make sure he is comfortable and gets whatever he desires.
Secondly, not everyone believes that money can make a person happy. Many people say that relationships and emotional support is the key for wellbeing. For instance, if there is a middle class person who had a bad day at work and needs to share his thoughts and refresh himself my meeting his friends it would be a perfect end of the day for him. And if his friends sympathizes with him and motivates him on how he can improve what else does a person needs other than sharing such a genuine bond.
To conclude, I would say as much as money plays a vital role in an individual’s life, relationships and emotional support is the basic requirement that an individual needs on a regular basis. However there is no denial in the fact the money can make a person happy but if along with money there is true connection and support provided by the people you love it can make wonders.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: how money contributes to happiness and what other factors are important. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented. However, the development is somewhat limited; the examples provided are brief and could be expanded with more depth to reach a higher band. The position is clear throughout, and the conclusion effectively synthesizes the two viewpoints. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph provides a more detailed explanation or a more nuanced example to fully explore the implications of the arguments presented.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two main ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and sentence flow, such as the slightly awkward phrasing in the final paragraph. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and the structure supports the reader's understanding of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common collocations, such as 'vital role' and 'genuine bond'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are occasional errors in word choice and form, such as 'happy' used as a noun instead of 'happiness' and 'my meeting' instead of 'by meeting'. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on using more precise vocabulary and ensuring correct word forms in various contexts.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('relationships and emotional support is') and article usage ('a middle class person'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some errors, such as the unnecessary space before the full stop in several instances. The majority of sentences are understandable, but the frequency of these minor errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic agreement and article rules would be beneficial.
