Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is considerable debate that having plenty of money can solve most of day to day problems and is the major method to live a pleasant life. I agree with this view because having a safety net of money can help people erase most of the worries for example no stress about one's food and shelter which is the most basic necessity required to live comfortably.

There are many problems which gets solved by having a lot money. Excess to education becomes convenient. Because of having a lot of money can actually helps stabilize the family by providing facilities like access to clean water, a home, electricity, proper education of the children which helps one to grow in society.

On the other hand, if one does not have ample of money to sustain themselves, people often chose shorter ways to make money which is gambling and that is a very bad addiction one can posses because it will not only destroy the little money one posses but it also threatens the persons family dynamics. All because they tried to get some profit in short amount of time in order to fulfill some duty which requires money more than one posses.

From my personal experience I am an international student currently studying abroad and I have to pay 3 time more money than the domestic student, now if my family have not supported for my education finances I would have been stressed throughout my semester and have worked part-time or a full-time job in order to survive and pay my tuition fees which have come at the cost of stress and low grades. But because my family is stable and can afford my stay abroad, I can say I have given my 100% in my education and it will help me in my field job or business in near future.

In conclusion, possessing more money can be a main method to be happy in life because in today's capitalistic world money solves and provides most of the basic needs to survive and live a happy life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: how money contributes to happiness and other factors that might lead to happiness. However, the second part of the prompt is significantly under-developed. While you mention that money provides basic needs and stability, you do not explicitly discuss other non-monetary sources of happiness, such as relationships, personal achievements, or health, which are essential to fully answering the prompt. The position is clear, but the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive, focusing heavily on the financial aspect of education and survival rather than exploring the broader concept of happiness as requested.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a central theme. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the transition 'All because they tried to get some profit'. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as the phrase 'that is a very bad addiction' which refers to gambling, but the connection could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal flow between sentences could be improved to achieve a more natural, sophisticated coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'capitalistic world' and 'family dynamics'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'Excess to education' (should be 'Access'), 'ample of money' (should be 'ample money'), and 'field job' (should be 'career'). These errors do not impede communication, but they limit the range and precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring word forms are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'many problems which gets solved' (should be 'get solved') and 'my family have not supported' (should be 'had not supported'). There are also punctuation and phrasing issues, such as '3 time more money' (should be 'three times more') and 'the little money one posses' (should be 'possesses'). These errors are noticeable and occur frequently, though they rarely prevent the reader from understanding your intended message.
