Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: how money contributes to happiness and what other factors are important. The ideas are relevant, such as the desire for luxury goods and the importance of family support. However, the development is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the explanation of why youngsters want iPhones is quite simplistic. The position is clear, but the arguments could be extended with more sophisticated reasoning or specific examples to reach a higher band. The conclusion is brief but summarizes the main points effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'On the one side', 'On the opposite side', and 'The another reason'. However, some of these transitions are used incorrectly or sound unnatural, such as 'The another reason' or 'The principle outcome'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical. While the overall progression is logical, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the occasional awkward phrasing hinder the coherence of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'make life pleaser' instead of 'more pleasant', 'money not only one become happiness', and 'leave luxurious life' instead of 'lead a luxurious life'. The student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary, but the inaccuracies often distract the reader. To improve, the student should focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that words are used in their correct grammatical form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('everyone want', 'youth’s do not want'), incorrect article usage, and awkward sentence construction ('money just give luxurious life but not give emotions'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to sentence structure and proofreading is required.
