Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
The letter addresses all three required points and maintains a warm, appreciative purpose. You clearly describe your reaction to the performance, saying the singer’s voice was “powerful and emotional” and that it was the best live performance you had seen. You also give relevant details about playing guitar, singing in a band, and practising and performing locally. Your request for advice on improving your singing and stage confidence is clear and polite. These points are relevant and supported, although the request for help could be developed more specifically—for example, by asking about a lesson, feedback on a recording, or particular exercises. The greeting and sign-off are also not fully suited to a named singer, but the intended relationship and purpose remain clear.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The information follows a clear, sensible order: you praise the concert, describe your own musical activities, and then ask for help. Paragraph breaks support this progression, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Further more” signal the shifts between topics. The closing thanks the singer and ends the letter appropriately. However, some links feel mechanical, and the first paragraph contains several ideas joined together without clear sentence boundaries, making the praise less easy to follow. The transition into your request could also be smoother. Use paragraphing consistently and connect related ideas with a wider range of natural transitions; check that each sentence expresses one complete thought and that pronouns such as “you” have clear references.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a personal letter, including expressive descriptions such as “powerful and emotional,” “connected with the audience,” and “passion for music.” Phrases about your band and performances also communicate your activities clearly. There are attempts at natural, less basic wording, but some choices and spelling errors reduce accuracy and polish: “in a good spirit and health” is not idiomatic, while “lifr performance,” “connnected,” and “inprove” appear to be misspellings. “I have ever always loved music” is also an awkward expression. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and proofread carefully, especially for common words. More precise vocabulary about practice or performance would add flexibility without making the letter sound overly formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The letter includes both simple statements and attempts at longer, connected sentences, and the main message is generally understandable. However, some grammatical errors affect accuracy. For example, “You singing was” needs a possessive form (“Your singing”), and “you seemed to enjoy every moment” is missing “the” before “very” if that is the intended phrase. The opening praise also runs several clauses together without appropriate sentence punctuation, while “we practise” begins a sentence with a lowercase letter. Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent elsewhere, including the start of “i would love.” Practise forming complete sentences, checking articles and possessives, and using full stops or commas to separate clauses. These corrections would make your varied ideas easier to read.
