Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Russ,
I'm writing to you to share with you my admiration for your performance in the Gnawa concert, I was there with my friends and I noticed that you have a unique voice, and you control the tones very well, which surprised me because it was the first time I hear you singing.
Also I would like to share with you our organization that help young kids who want to start their music career. We provide for them spaces to practice their skills, and also equipements that will motivate them to launch on a profesionnal level, among others services such as the organisation of the amateur music concerts of the region to raise money for the organisation.
And we will be very honored to welcome you and your team in one of our concerts, this will help us take a step forward to reach out all kids in our city, and begin their journey with us, but also raise funds for our students to keep providing the services we offer.
I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.
Yours sincerely,
Nabil.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you praise the singer’s voice and control, describe your organisation’s work with young musicians, and invite him and his team to take part in a concert. The invitation also explains how his involvement could help the children and raise funds, so the purpose is clear. The performance praise is specific, but the description of your musical activities focuses mainly on the organisation’s services rather than your own role or activities. The request for help is also somewhat indirect: you invite him to perform, but could state more clearly what you hope he will do, such as give a workshop or offer advice. This covers the task well overall, with some details less fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter has a clear progression: you begin with your reaction to the concert, move to the organisation’s activities, and then make an invitation before closing politely. Paragraphing supports this sequence, and linking phrases such as “Also” and “And” help connect the main points. The final paragraph explains the intended benefits of the singer’s participation, which gives the request a logical purpose. Some sentences are long and carry several ideas, particularly the opening sentence and the invitation paragraph; splitting these would make the relationships between ideas easier to follow. The repeated use of “and” also makes some connections feel less flexible. Overall, the organisation is clear and cohesive, with a few opportunities to make linking more precise.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a suitable range of vocabulary for a personal letter about music and community work, including “unique voice,” “control the tones,” “practice their skills,” and “raise funds.” These choices make your meaning clear, and the tone is generally appropriate. There are, however, several inaccurate or awkward forms and collocations, such as “equipements,” “profesionnal level,” “among others services,” and “reach out all kids.” “Launch on a professional level” is also not a natural expression in this context. These errors do not prevent understanding, but they limit the precision and naturalness of the vocabulary. Check spelling carefully and learn common combinations such as “provide equipment,” “perform at a professional level,” and “reach all the children.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including relative clauses (“which surprised me”) and purpose clauses (“to raise money”). The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors occur. In the opening, a comma joins two complete clauses; use a full stop or a conjunction to avoid a run-on sentence. There are also agreement and verb-form issues in “our organization that help” and “it was the first time I hear you singing”; these should be “helps” and “had heard.” The phrase “we will be very honored” is understandable, though “would be honored” better suits a polite invitation. Breaking up long sentences and checking agreement and tense would improve accuracy while preserving your range.
