Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You successfully express your feelings about the performance, describe your musical background, and explain how you would like the singer to assist you. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention your musical activities, the explanation of your request for help could be more specific to demonstrate a clearer purpose. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a performer, though the opening is slightly disjointed due to the incomplete sentence 'I hope you are'. Overall, the task is fulfilled, but the depth of the content could be improved to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your message. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'However' and 'Perhaps', to transition between ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing and punctuation errors, such as the comma splice in '...concert, It has been...' and the capitalization of 'Challenging' and 'Instruments' mid-sentence. These mechanical issues make the progression of ideas feel slightly disjointed at times. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that your sentences are correctly punctuated to maintain a smooth, professional flow throughout the letter.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using words like 'captivating', 'inspiring', and 'instrumental'. There are some instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'I hope you will reply me back as a guider', which sounds unnatural. 'Guider' is not the standard term; 'mentor' would be more appropriate. Additionally, there are minor errors in word formation and collocation, such as 'cause of my peak interest'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage and a better understanding of natural English collocations to reach a higher band level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a positive step. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of your writing. Examples include 'It have been Challenging' (subject-verb agreement), 'I hope you will reply me back' (incorrect verb pattern), and the incomplete opening sentence. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary capital letters and comma splices. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from being considered error-free. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and standard sentence patterns will significantly improve your grammatical accuracy.
