Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Dilpreet
Hope you are doing well!
I m glad that I got opportunity to meet you face to face yesterday, it was really amazing experience. If I talk about your work it was speechless . What I saw on television and what did you perform was an eye catching performance.
Although you sung alots of songs, however when you were singing a song ( red suit) I was literally enjoying a lot as it’s my one of favourite song .The lyrics and music was also heart touching . Everyone was appreciating your performance because vibe and music was matching with weather conditions .
As I m also doing practice in the music classes and I have been selected for my next performance at college level , I would really appreciate if you can cordinate to give me some tips to improve my voice and performance.
Thank you so much
Your sincere
Guri .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: describing your feelings about the performance, detailing your musical activities, and requesting help. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a performer. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention your musical activities, providing more specific details about the type of music you study or your goals would have strengthened the response. The letter is clear and the purpose is well-defined, meeting the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical structure with a clear opening and closing. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Although' and 'As', which help connect your ideas. However, the paragraphing is underdeveloped; the entire body of the letter is presented as a single block of text. To improve, you should separate the different points into distinct paragraphs to enhance readability and flow. Additionally, some transitions are slightly mechanical, such as 'If I talk about your work', which could be replaced with more natural phrasing to improve the overall progression.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using phrases like 'eye catching performance' and 'heart touching'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'doing practice' instead of 'practicing' and 'cordinate' instead of 'collaborate' or 'provide guidance'. While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more natural collocations and varied descriptive language to express your enthusiasm more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as the conditional 'If I talk about...' and the concessive 'Although you sung...'. There are several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('you sung' should be 'you sang', 'lyrics and music was' should be 'were') and punctuation errors (missing spaces after commas and periods). While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. Increasing your control over verb tenses and basic sentence punctuation will significantly improve your score.
