Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You successfully expressed your appreciation for the performance, provided details about your musical background, and explained how you would like the singer to assist you. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the opening 'Dear Sir' is a bit generic given the prompt asks to write to a specific singer. The ideas are relevant, though the development of your musical activities could be slightly more detailed to fully engage the reader. Overall, you have fulfilled the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a distinct purpose. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Therefore', and 'Consequently' to link your ideas. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or forced. The progression of ideas is generally clear, moving from the concert experience to your background and finally to your request. To improve, ensure that your sentences flow more naturally into one another rather than relying on standard linking words at the start of every sentence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'memorable', 'profession', and 'compose'. There are some minor spelling errors ('Muscial', 'add', 'praticale') and some awkward phrasing, such as 'I am just done with Master's'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a wider variety of collocations. Using more precise terminology related to music and performance would help elevate your score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'I was not expected that' (should be 'I did not expect that'), 'not only I choose' (should be 'not only did I choose'), and 'I will able to' (should be 'I will be able to'). These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of modal verbs will significantly improve your accuracy.
