Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Justin,
i am writing to express my gratitude towards the recent concert that i have attened of yours last week. I honestly felt great and enjoyed alot during your performance.
You have always been my favourite singer since from childhood and witnessed you performing live gave me the lifetime memory to remember. I felt over the moon seeing you singing one of my favourite songs from your album.
The event particularly was organised fantastically. The sound system was amazing especially when you performed with guitar. It was really helpful when you were teaching me how to play guitar. More over , I won't forgot how you taught me to play drums at first place. These musical activities were added colors to the ambiance.
I wanted to thankyou for helping me with all the activities we had there. I whole music event was memorable just because of you. I am eagerly waiting for the next event to join you.
Yours Faithfully,
Jussy

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You expressed your feelings about the concert, described your musical activities, and requested help. However, the development of these points is somewhat inconsistent. For instance, the transition between the concert experience and the request for help is slightly confusing, as you imply the singer already taught you guitar and drums during the event, which contradicts the prompt's instruction to ask for help with your activities. To improve, ensure your ideas are logically connected to the specific requirements of the task. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a performer, though it could be more formal in its structure.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'moreover' and 'especially', to link sentences. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'at first place' and 'these musical activities were added colors'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when discussing the interaction between you and the singer. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that flows logically into the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, using phrases like 'over the moon' and 'gratitude'. However, there are several instances of unnatural collocation and minor errors, such as 'added colors to the ambiance' and 'witnessed you performing live gave me the lifetime memory'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, try to focus on learning common collocations—words that naturally go together—rather than translating phrases directly from your native language. Expanding your vocabulary to include more specific descriptive adjectives would also enhance your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'i am writing to express my gratitude towards the recent concert that i have attened of yours' (should be 'for' and 'attended'), 'since from childhood', and 'I won't forgot' (should be 'forget'). Additionally, there are frequent issues with capitalization, such as the lowercase 'i'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To improve, pay closer attention to verb tense consistency and basic punctuation rules, particularly the capitalization of the pronoun 'I'.
