Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to address the task requirements adequately. While you mention the performance, you completely omit the required details about your own musical activities and fail to explain how you would like the singer to help you. Furthermore, the response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement. Because the letter is incomplete and fails to cover two of the three bullet points, it cannot be awarded a higher score. To improve, ensure you dedicate a full paragraph to each bullet point in the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The letter lacks a clear structure or paragraphing. It is written as a single, run-on block of text, which makes it difficult to follow. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas together; for example, the transition between your feelings about the concert and your request for help is non-existent. To improve, you should use clear paragraph breaks for each section of the letter and employ linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' to connect your thoughts logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive, relying on simple descriptors like 'good' and 'great'. There are also several spelling errors, such as 'unfergetable' (unforgettable), 'son' (soon), and 'perfomance' (performance). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas or feelings about music. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise adjectives and nouns related to music and performance, and ensure you proofread your work to eliminate basic spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The grammar is characterized by frequent errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with sentence boundaries, such as comma splices ('...the singer is so good, I want to tell you...'), and incorrect verb tenses ('i hope we met you son'). The sentence structures are simple and lack variety. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of capitalization and commas. To improve, focus on writing complete, grammatically correct sentences and practice using a mix of simple and complex sentence structures.
